Die muslimische Frau in den europäischen Medien

Am 15. Mai organisiert das EFOMW (European Forum of Muslim Woman) erstmalig
gemeinsam mit dem Europäischen Parlament ein Treffen mit dem Thema :

“Die muslimische Frau in den europäischen Medien”

Die Einladung erläutert den Sinn und die Absicht dieses Treffens:

For several years now, particularly since September 11th 2001, it is not uncommon to see media coverage of Muslim Women. Numerous articles, sometimes complete files are dedicated to her. And so we have witnessed the birth of a stereotype of “the Muslim Woman;” making an abstraction out of human diversity. A new woman has been created, between myth and fantasy, on the basis of a chaotic international reality. The question is how to know which woman we are talking about. Is the image in the media real? On which rudiments is it based? Who really are these Muslim Women? How do they define themselves? What is their place in society, what engages them, what are their hopes, their dreams and what are their claims?

The European Forum of Muslim Women and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe wish to analyse these questions and try to answer them. Therefore we would like to invite you to participate to a seminar organised on 15th of May 2007 in the European Parliament (60 rue Wiertz, B-1047 Brussels) – room 3G3 – from 8h30 to 11h30.

Muslim Women in the Media :
Between myth and reality

As the places are limited and because of the security procedures of the European Parliament, participants who do not have a permanent access and who wish to participate to our event must register in advance.

The objective of this seminar is to initiate a space of open dialogue and exchange of views between all concerned actors, Muslim Women, journalists and politicians. We hope that all of us will leave the debate enriched by new knowledge and approaches.

Es werden unteranderem auch deutschsprachige muslimische Frauen für dieses Treffen gesucht. Es wurden im Parlament insgesamt 160 Plätze reserviert. Man sollte sich bis zum 30. April angelmeldet haben. Das genaue Programm kann unter diesen Adressen angefordert werde:
